American Express® AeroplanPlus®* Reserve Card CONS

  • There is an annual fee of $899. Keep in mind that much of this money can be made back by using your card extensively for travel-related expenses. The more you use the card, the more you will get back from it. If you are not a big time traveler, then the annual fee alone might be unworthy of your time.
  • Additional cards are provided at $299. This means that you can buy additional cards and give to your family and friends, but it will come at a price. One of the benefits of purchasing additional cards is that you can wreck up your miles faster. Keep in mind that as the primary cardholder, you will be responsible for the account regardless of who has a card.
  • Interest rates are 19.99% for preferred purchases and 22.99% for funds advance. This tends to be rather high considering the amount you are spending on annual fees. You can save money by making sure you pay all of your bills on time. Late payments are subject to late fees. These late fees may also be charged with an interest rate of 23.99% and/or 26.99%.
